As a homeowner in Suffolk County & Nassau County, you are aware of the potential for pests to infest your property. At Suburban Exterminating, we have extensive experience dealing with all types of pests, from removing bee hives to eliminating ant colonies. We even offer comprehensive, round-the-clock pest control services through our PestFree365+ program. However, what if we told you that there is a solution that can actively eliminate most insects without any effort on your part? And what if this solution also helped keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer? All of this, and more, is possible with the installation of TAP® Pest Control Insulation.
What is TAP® Insulation?
TAP® Insulation is made from cellulose that is blown into attics or wall voids. The cellulose is made from around 80% recycled materials and is treated with a special concentration of boric acid. The powder is not harmful to pets, children, or adults unless ingested in large quantities. When insects come in contact with it, the chemical coats their bodies and is then ingested when they groom themselves or each other. Once boric acid enters an insect’s system, they are unable to pass it, which causes the pests to die of dehydration or malnutrition, effectively stopping a potential infestation.
TAP insulation can effectively eliminate insects as small as ants or Formosan termites, or as large as cockroaches and most beetles. And, once it is installed, it remains effective almost indefinitely, providing a defense for your home that you can rely on for decades to come.
Benefits of TAP® Insulation
What makes TAP insulation so special is not just its pest-killing properties, but it is also a high-quality insulator. It covers a larger surface area, increasing its overall effectiveness. TAP is flame-retardant and mold-resistant, and it slows the transfer of heat, taking the strain off your HVAC systems and keeping you comfortable all year long. You’ll save money on your energy bill, lower your carbon footprint, and prevent alternative insulating materials from winding up in a landfill.
However, TAP insulation, like any other home renovation technique, has its pros and cons. TAP is a cellulose insulator and is vulnerable to moisture. While it can resist mold, it may rot with water damage. And, while it does have a higher R-value than fiberglass batting, it’s not quite as high as spray foam. Nonetheless, it’s a quality insulator when installed well, and our team strives to be the best TAP installers in the Suffolk County & Nassau County area.
